To Build 60 GWh Battery Gigafactory in Heide, Schleswig-Holstein.
Description:
Northvolt, which is backed by USD 50 billion (EUR 45bn) in orders from customers such as BMW and Volkswagen, has chosen to locate the site in Heide, Schleswig-Holstein, where it can benefit from surplus onshore and offshore wind power and interconnections to Denmark and Norway in line with its sustainability goals. The factory, dubbed Northvolt Drei, will be capable of producing batteries for about one million electric vehicles. The project is estimated to represent an investment of around EUR 4 billion.
