ScopeThe Investment Plan for the International Airport for the years 20202028 was approved by the corporate bodies of the company in December 2020. The Plan was developed based on the Master Plan for the Krakw-Balice Airport approved by the Minister of Infrastructure. The final approval of a master plan is the responsibility of the competent minister. For the Master Plan for the KrakwBalice Airport it was the Minister of Infrastructure who finally approved the Plan for Krakw Airport on 26 November 2018. To sum up the importance of the airports Master Plan which is a zoning document shaping air transport infrastructure in Poland is evidenced by the Aviation Law Act. Expansion passenger terminalThe objective of the extension project is to improve terminal functionality and increase its capacity so that after the extension the passenger terminal can handle traffic of 12 million passengers per year 3200 PAXhour for departures and 3200 PAXhour for arrivals under the Optimum Level of Service according to ADRM 11th Edition. In view of the airports future urban planning context the limited investment area and the need to find space to improve the transport and parking system the commercial aspects and the need to proceed with the construction in such a way as to ensure operational processes are not disrupted and airport operation is not interrupted the terminal building is planned for extension in stages in two directions eastward and westward along with redevelopment of the existing part. New cargo terminalThe subject of this investment task is the construction of an office-and-warehouse building with a road system on the air-side and land-side part of the airport a manoeuvre area and car parks. In addition to cargo handling the building and associated land development will be used for handling and control of supplies and vehicles entering the Airports restricted area. The cargo terminal building will be an architecturally compact body and while it will hold all of the intended functions it will be clearly divided into an office area and a warehouse area. The main function of the warehouse area will be the handling of car and air freight. The investment will be located in the eastern part of the airport with direct entry from provincial road No. 774. The planned area of the terminal is approx. 2700 m2 of warehouse area and approx. 1200 m2 of office space. New 2800-meter runwayThe new runway will be located on the north side of the runway currently in use and rotated by 4.7 degrees in such a way as to improve the conditions as regards navigational obstacles for both operational directions. The runway will be 2800 metres long and 45 m wide plus shoulders of 7.5 m on either side of the runway.
