PROJECT DESCRIPTION (DE)
Initial situation:
Energy demand in Indonesia is constantly rising due to economic growth. At the same time, the country has set itself very ambitious goals for lower CO2 emissions, for example with the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP). However, Indonesia faces major challenges because its energy production is heavily dependent on fossil fuels such as coal and oil.
The government and administration lack the institutional and technical resources to effectively plan and implement the expansion of renewable energies. This represents an obstacle to achieving Indonesia's ambitious energy transition goals.
Goal:
Indonesia is in a position to drive forward the expansion of renewable energies. Together with Germany, it is succeeding in reducing CO2 emissions and implementing a climate-neutral energy supply.
Approach:
The project is working closely with the Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) to create the legal and regulatory conditions for the expansion of renewable energies.
Specifically for the island grid in Sulawesi, the project advises the state-owned power producer (PLN) on the technical and economic challenges of grid expansion and operation using renewable energies. It also demonstrates their economic viability. It focuses on renewable energies (RE), such as solar and wind power. PLN employees receive
