PROJECT DESCRIPTION (DE)
Context:
The energy transition in Algerian municipalities is still in its infancy. Local authorities lack the structures and technical capabilities to implement energy action plans. Furthermore, stakeholders are not collaborating sufficiently to improve the climate efficiency of municipal services. Civil society is also not sufficiently involved.
Objective:
The climate efficiency of Algerian municipal administrations has improved and energy consumption has been reduced.
Approach:
The project supports pilot regions in developing effective energy measures and involving civil society in the process. The goal is to establish the necessary structures and promote cooperation among stakeholders.
The project operates in three fields of action:
It supports Algerian municipalities in expanding their technical capabilities for energy-efficient services. All 1,541 municipalities receive appropriate training. The municipalities can use a digital information system for energy management. Selected municipalities receive technical consulting.
The project advises the authorities on establishing an organizational structure for climate-efficient services. The administrations introduce quality standards and adopt successful approaches from other municipalities. Action plans are implementing climate-friendly measures in 30 municipalities.
The project involves citizens in the planning and implementation of the measures. It raises awareness of energy efficiency and renewable ener
