π Tender Overview
In Burkina Faso, more than 2 million people, mostly women and children, are displaced by the conflict. These people live in a highly vulnerable situation, with limited access to essential resources. Switzerland and Germany are joining forces to support 84,000 internally displaced persons. Their support aims at the sustainable restoration of livelihoods. The intervention promotes equitable access to land, water, and forests within a peaceful framework.

The project in brief
Background Burkina Faso is facing a major humanitarian crisis, with over 2 million internally displaced persons, the majority of whom are women and children, generally living on the outskirts of urban areas. These often prolonged and repeated displacements exacerbate their vulnerability, particularly in terms of food security, access to basic resources, and protection. By 2025, approximately 2.26 million people (10% of the population) will be in need of food assistance. However, humanitarian funding remains insufficient, limiting the capacity of aid providers to respond effectively. The Government has implemented a national strategy (2023-2027) to address the needs of displaced persons, facilitate their reintegration, and promote sustainable solutions. To contribute to this strategy, Switzerland and Germany have joined forces within the framework of the ProRes project, the first phase of which was funded by the German development agency KfW. The initial objective of the project, which aims to improve the resilience of smallholder farmers to climate change, will be complemented with Swiss funding to take into account the specific needs of populations affected by the humanitarian crisis, particularly internally displaced persons.
Objectives At least 72,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs) and 12,000 people from vulnerable host communities, including returnees, have sustainable access to productive resources, sufficient, diverse and nutritious food, while preserving and enhancing local natural resources (land, water, forest).
Target groups Vulnerable IDP households, mainly women, heads of households and children, and vulnerable host households and voluntary returnees from the KuilsΓ© and Nando regions.
Medium-term outcomes Achievement 1 : Vulnerable households, particularly female heads of household, restore their livelihoods and use productive resources (land, water, inputs) equitably and securely. Achievement 2 : Vulnerable households have access to sufficient and balanced food and children benefit from improved nutritional intake through
