📋 Tender Overview
Objectives
To tackle the lack of information existing at European level on the link between nutrition and autism, the APIA project, organised over 36 months by a consortium of Spanish, Italian, Belgian and French organisations, aims to educate professional care assistants through theoretical and technical knowledge about the nutrition of people with autism so that they are better able to support them in their diet and promote their well-being and autonomy.
Activities
The participants in the project are the daily professional care assistants of people with autism. Through a web page created for APIA, key information is provided to them in downloadable and translated versions on the link between autism and nutrition via the creation of a scientific review, a qualitative and quantitative study report from which a theoretical tool on the nutrition of autistic people and a methodological guide for implementing adapted cooking workshops will result.
Impact
APIA results in the creation of two tools that can be used by professional care assistants of people with autism to help them improve their autonomy and well-being through appropriate nutrition and inclusive pedagogy. In the long term, APIA's tools could be shared with family carers and adapted to other people with disabilities. The aim is to participate in the inclusion of this audience in society by promoting their independence through nutrition.
