DESCRIPTION: The operation concerns an investment loan to support the modernisation and expansion of the water supply and wastewater infrastructure operated by the Thessaloniki Water Supply and Sewerage Company (EYATH) in Greece.
OBJECTIVES
The aim is to support investments in water and wastewater infrastructure within EYATH's service area, covering the greater Thessaloniki region, which is classified as a less developed region under EU Cohesion Policy. The project will improve the coverage and quality of integrated water and wastewater services while increasing resilience to drought. It will also help ensure continued compliance with the requirements of key European water sector legislation. The project is expected to generate significant environmental and public health benefits, including reduced pollution of water bodies and more efficient use of water resources. In addition, it will contribute to greater resilience to climate change impacts and enhanced security of water supply.
