π Tender Overview
Objectives
The main objective of the project is to improve the representation of students from low socioeconomic backgrounds in gifted programmes. In order to achieve that we formulated 3 sub-objectives that we operationalised in the work packages:
1) to identify the cognitive talent of gifted students from disadvantaged backgrounds
2) to improve their knowledge of and skill in using academic language
3) to involve their parents more actively with their learning processes
Activities
WP2: Identification: teacher training on assessing the COVAT, developing online learning programmes and
teacher guide; research
WP3: Academic language programme: teacher training, translation and adaptation of the programme, research
WP4: Parent Participation project: development of PPP, research
Impact
We will identify more students from a disadvantaged background to increase equity in gifted education. The teacher's guide that we create will be a very useful tool to implement this project in other countries. We will develop an academic language programme for use in different countries. We will increase Parent Participation for gifted disadvantaged students and set up a framework for use in future initiatives. Students, teachers, researchers and policy makers will benefit from this project.
