PROJECT DESCRIPTION (DE)
Initial situation
According to the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor 2023, around one in six adults (just under 16 percent) in Jordan is trying to start a business or is running a business that is less than 3.5 years old. However, the proportion of established entrepreneurs is just over seven percent. This highlights the considerable difficulties in running businesses long-term. In addition, newly founded companies often have limited growth potential.
The entrepreneurial ecosystem also faces a variety of challenges. The framework conditions are often not conducive to entrepreneurs. Administrative hurdles and bureaucratic processes are a hindrance. In addition, there are insufficient support and cooperation opportunities in the regions. As a result, entrepreneurs cannot sufficiently exploit regional markets and business potential.
Objective
Improved entrepreneurship increases economic development and creates new jobs in Jordan.
Approach
The project is co-financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and the European Union.
The project cooperates with the Jordanian Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship and other national partners in three areas:
It improves the human resources and planning skills of stakeholders in the government and private sectors. This aims to develop effective support measures for young entrepreneurs.
It promotes regional ecosystems to improve conditions for startups and provide them with better services.
It supports founders and young companies in optimally exploiting regional mark
