PROJECT DESCRIPTION (DE)
In the rural Amazon, women from traditional communities like the Quilombolas play a crucial role in rainforest conservation, contributing their knowledge, culture, and environmentally friendly production methods. However, they face social and economic barriers in fulfilling this role.
In urban areas, female recyclers contribute to reducing the depletion of natural resources and thus to climate change adaptation. Despite their vital contributions, women in Brazil are often treated unfairly with regard to income and political participation. They are also frequently subjected to gender-based violence.
The Ministry of Women's Affairs has integrated strategic elements to promote gender equality into its policies. It has implemented strategies to promote the equal social, political, and economic participation of Quilombola women and recyclers.
This project addresses structural, institutional, and social barriers through a holistic approach. It enhances the Ministry of Women's Affairs' coordination and communication channels to further develop women's policy within the context of Just Transition through participatory processes.
The project works directly with priority target groups in the state of ParΓ‘ to improve their participation in policymaking. Key activities include:
conducting advocacy and policy analysis training to increase organizations' participation in policymaking;
providing training and assessments to improve conditions for equitable economic participation; and
developing a context-specific strategy for violence prevention through community-based initiatives.
