π Tender Overview
Scope : To Build 35 km Road above Yamuna Embankment Road in Uttar Pradesh
The Noida Authority is mulling a proposal to build a 35 km elevated road, above Yamuna embankment road after the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) expressed its reluctance to fund the project. It is working on multiple funding options for this project.
The new road will help decongest the existing Noida-Greater Noida Expressway (above) as well as connect with the Yamuna Expressway near Greater Noidaβs Pari Chowk. Construction work will be executed on a build, operate and transfer (BOT) model. In November 2023, the authority decided to build the road to boost connectivity between Noida and Greater Noida.
The Noida authority approached the NHAI to develop this project to enhance the connectivity between Noida and Delhi as well, especially in light of the greenfield Noida International Airport coming up in Jewar. NHAI can fund a project if it owns the land. The authority assured the NHAI that they are in discussion with the embankment road owner, the UP irrigation department, to hand over the land to the NHAI so that it can construct the project.
In case, if the NHAI will not take over this project and develop it, then the authority will explore other options. But first, it is pursuing the NHAI as this will smoothen connectivity between Delhi and Noida airport. The other option is funding this project on its own or building it on a BOT basis after engaging a private player. Under the BOT option, the authority may rope in a private agency which will build the project, operate it for a particular period to recover the cost, and then return it to the government.
