📋 Tender Overview
Ireland's MetroLink is set to run 19.4 kilometers in length, mostly underground, across 16 stations connecting North and South city Dublin.
The route will be mostly underground and will connect residential communities such as Swords, Ballymun and Glasnevin with the City Centre and Dublin Airport.
Once operational, fully-automated trains will run every 3 minutes during peak periods. This could increase to a service every 90 seconds by 2060, allowing the network to transport up to 20,000 passengers per hour in each direction.
Transport Infrastructure Ireland will submit a planning application for the route in September, with the procurement process commencing next year. Construction is then set to begin in 2025 and services are anticipated to start in the early 2030s.
IDOM won the Engineering Services Contract for the implementation of the MetroLink – a 26 km high-frequency rail through Dublin.
Atkins will be responsible for the delivery of detailed design for the project’s Advance Works programme. Supported by sub-consultants RPS, Atkins will focus on the development of a detailed design for an activity programme preceding the main infrastructure works.
Expected to carry up to 53 million passengers per annum, this high-capacity, high-frequency project will link the Greater Dublin Area including Dublin Airport and the city centre.
