π Tender Overview
Food insecurity persists in West Africa. To reverse this trend, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) supports CORAF in increasing the adoption of adapted agricultural innovations through partnerships between research, producers, and the private sector. These innovations include improved seeds, climate information, and agri-food processing tools that enhance the resilience and incomes of producers, particularly women.

The project in brief
Background West Africa faces chronic food insecurity, exacerbated by conflict, climate change, inflation, and low agricultural productivity. While numerous agricultural technologies and innovations (T&I) have been developed, their adoption by farmers remains limited. To reverse this trend, it is essential to accelerate the adoption of proven solutions, particularly by women, youth, and small-scale producers. The regional approach, led by CORAF (West and Central African Council for Agricultural Research and Development) and supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), allows for the pooling of research efforts and better connects innovations to the needs of rural populations. The SDC's support contributes to CORAF's strategic plan.
Objectives To contribute to food security and the resilience of agricultural systems through the provision and facilitation of the use of agricultural technologies and innovations by populations in West and Central Africa.
Target groups - Small family farms - Agricultural product processors - The national agricultural research centers, - Agricultural extension and advisory systems in the countries - Women and young people (targets of 40% and 60% respectively)
Medium-term outcomes Outcome 1: The use of agricultural technologies and innovations is increased in agricultural sectors Outcome 2: The demand for agricultural technologies from the population is facilitated and met.
Results Expected results: - T&I are made more accessible through inclusive financing mechanisms. - The T&I are integrated into viable economic models, supported by alliances between producers, processors, financiers and other actors in the sectors. - Distribution platforms facilitate local production of seeds and prototypes, responding to the real demand of stakeholders. - Producers and processors have access to understandable and suitable T&I (Technical and Industrial Information)
Results from previous phases: The first phase of the program (2020-2025) facilitated the widespread dissemination of agricultural technologies through 35 Innovation Platforms, 5 Technology Parks (PTIA), 10 Community Immersion Hubs (PIC), and 5 Climate-Smart Villages (VIC) in 5 countries (Benin, Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, and Chad). The regional catalog of agricultural technologies was enri
