PROJECT DESCRIPTION (DE)
Algeria is divided into 58 administrative districts (wilayas) and more than 1,500 municipalities. But the administrative structure is centralized: national institutions have a strong influence on municipal actions and decisions.
The Algerian government is already investing considerable resources to make municipalities more modern and digital. However, Algerian municipalities are not yet able to provide public services to citizens in a holistic and inclusive manner. The services are also not user-oriented and hardly digitized. This puts women and vulnerable groups at a particular disadvantage.
The aim of the project is to improve access for women and vulnerable groups to citizen-oriented digital and physical services and jobs in selected municipalities in Algeria.
The project is working with selected municipalities. Among other things, it advises them on developing a standard template for widely applicable and inclusive websites. The pages are intended to make it easier for women and disadvantaged groups in particular to quickly find up-to-date information on public services.
The project is also developing a concept for a comprehensive and inclusive citizens' office. This is intended to serve as a central point of contact for citizens and thus improve access to services. At the same time, municipal employees receive further training and education that enables them to provide services better.
In addition, the project promotes the municipal framework conditions for gender-equitable, inclusive and barrier-free jobs and careers in
