Location Sonora Type of investment GreenfieldSubsector Water SupplyActive Desalination plant 200 liters per second l s Scope The project consists in extracting marine water from 5 beach wells located in the vicinity of the coastal edge within the project site. Said water will be conducted to a reverse osmosis desalination plant considering membranes for filtration where it will be processed to comply with drinking water regulations. Subsequently it will be sent through an 11 km long pipeline to an existing pond for the supply of drinking water for the towns of Guaymas and Empalme Sonora. The reject water of the plant will be disposed in the sea through a line of conduction of the order of 1.3 km to enable the dilution of the brine in the marine environment considering the bathymetry of the place and the conditions of currents and tides in the area . The wells to capture the seawater will have a depth of the order of 100 m and the extraction rate will be at least 100 l s. In addition the construction of treated water ponds is considered of a volume corresponding to two days of production of the plant which is equivalent to 35000 m3 in total.
