Project Description : Under the e-Government umbrella and modernizing government also includes moving City Services closer to the Resident and business and making them more mobile. Funding request is to facilitate implementation of organizational mobility. Untethering staff from their desks results in productivity and customer service improvements. The corporation has been making gains in these areas by incrementally growing the mobile workforce. Two factors are driving this future investment requirement: 1) The current mobile workforce initiatives are ad hoc. Once a critical mass is reached, an investment will be required for a more efficient and effective holistic solution. 2) Technology changes in the mobile space are rapid and significant. Solutions implemented today will be sufficient, but this mobile space is changing so quickly it is almost certain these solutions will become antiquated in the coming years.
