Scope of WorkConstruction of 1 GW Wind-solar-hydrogen complex in state of New South Wales.DescriptionThe Australian state of New South Wales could become home to a 1-GW baseload power complex incorporating wind solar and hydrogen power plants. The ambitious proposal dubbed Project NEO was launched by green hydrogen producer Infinite Blue Energy Pty Ltd and calls for an overall investment of AUD 3.5 billion USD 2.3bnEUR 2.1bn. Its goal is to provide a reliable baseload supply of electricity and transition large users of power derived from fossil fuels to renewables hydrogen by 2027. The concept is scalable the developer adds. The production of hydrogen will be powered with electricity generated by large-scale wind and solar photovoltaic PV plants. Its storage and conversion into electricity will be made possible through Infinite Blue Energys fuel cell technology. The company estimates that a project of this scale would require around 235 wind turbines and around 1250 hectares of land for solar generation. If implemented the project is expected to cover the energy consumption of around two million homes in New South Wales. It will localise manufacturing give a 100 green supply of power to NSW fuel the reduction of the states carbon emission and can therefore play a pivotal role in ultimately helping Australia become leaders in carbon emission reduction. Infinite Blue Energy intends to conduct a feasibility study and start design works on the project over the next 18 months.
