"Educating students as citizens of a globalized world is a priority for the CorazΓ³n de MarΓa School, (CODEMA) we believe that knowledge of the EU, both in terms of its functioning and organisation throughout its history and regarding its territories, is an essential condition for democratic coexistence and understanding of today's world.
Fostering the European dimension of education is a means of developing mutual understanding between the peoples and states of the EU and has an impact on the promotion of foreign languages as a tool for communication. An understanding of cultural diversity and training in professional and personal skills therefore becomes essential for learners to be able to develop in the European space. The goal is to foster values in our students, and a respect of the relevance of cultural diversity, which is why multiculturalism must be a priority part of education. Therefore, at CODEMA we have created the Europe at the School subject (EUaS), which is incorporated into the Bilingual Teaching Programme of our school. EUaS is delivered in the 2023-2024 school year to three groups of Grade 10 students through 2 teaching periods per week throughout the whole school year with two teachers. Its curriculum has been designed to incorporate the European dimension via problem-based learning, therefore developing our students competences, fostering the transfer of school learning to everyday life, exploring facts and phenomena of interest, analysing problems and organizing relevant information.
This optional subject at our school helps to consolidate the work developed in recent years after the implementation of the innovation project ""Europe Cell"" and the deployment of activities linked to it. With this subject we can appropriately channel all the existing EU actions (eTwinning, Erasmus, EPAS) while serving as a driving force for all the pro-European initiatives that we develop at our school."
