Scope : Development of a Bulk Drug Park in Nakkapalli, Anakapalli district, Andhra Pradesh
Andhra Pradesh govt has established AP Bulk Drug Infrastructure Corporation Ltd. to act as the state's implementing agency for the development of a bulk drug park in Nakkapalli, Anakapalli district. Union govt sanctioned the bulk drug park for Andhra Pradesh .
As per the DPR, the park will be developed with a budget of about 1,672 crore.
Around 2,001 acres of land have been earmarked for establishing the bulk drug park in Rajayyapeta, Buchirajupeta, Chandanada, Vempadu, and Doni Vani Lakshmipuram villages of Nakkapalli mandal.
While 50.4% of the land will be used for setting up industries, the remaining land will be used for creating roads, a green belt, amenities, and other allied infrastructure.
The state government recently invited a request for proposal (RfP) for the design, construction, and commissioning of the bulk drug park. Estimates have been put at about 1,234 crore, excluding the GST.
The scope under this contract encompasses bringing the facility into the successful operation in 24 months. The trunk infrastructure will include various components such as road works, including structures and area landscaping, stormwater drain systems, water distribution systems, recycled water supply mechanisms, power supply, and wastewater conveyance networks.
The specialised infrastructure plan includes a common effluent treatment plant with a marine outfall system, supplemented partly by a zero liquid discharge system. Complementing this, a steam generation plant and distribution network will be developed. Additionally, a common solvent recovery system is slated for implementation, alongside comprehensive solid waste management solutions to mitigate environmental impact.
The bulk park will host various buildings tailored to support research, development, and entrepreneurship. These include a research and development lab coupled with a centre of excellence, dedicated to scientific exploration and breakthroughs. Furthermore, analytical testing labs will play a crucial role in maintaining product quality and compliance standards. an Incubation Centre equipped with testing labs and modern equipment will be set up to nurture emerging talent and drive innovation within the pharmaceutical sector.
The park was earlier proposed to be set up at Thondangi in Kakinada district. Later, it was relocated to Nakkapalli in Anakapalli district.
Visakhapatnam port (70 km aerial distance) and Gangavaram port (60km aerial distance) are located northeast of the site identified for the bulk park in Nakkapalli. The park also has the advantage of using the Kakinada deepwater port (60 km aerial distance) to the southwest and the proposed Kakinada gateway port (about 25 km aerial distance).
