Benghazi Marsa Matrouh Tender

Scope: design and construction of rail lines from Benghazi to the city of Marsa Matrouh in Egypt via the border municipality of Musaid

Funding for the national railway transport system will be channelled through the Central Bank of Libya. As the country is bipartite – the governments of Libya’s eastern and western regions are functioning separately but are discussing the possibility of a single cabinet – Benghazi and Tripoli have been working independently. Despite political differences, they have been able to agree to work together to build a unified railway network through the BF-A consortium, which includes China Railways International Group of China and the British international engineering company Erup Group Limited.
