The project is currently owned by Ministry of Energy and Water, Afghanistan.
Baghdara is a reservoir based project. The hydro reservoir capacity is planned to be 400 million cubic meter. The project is expected to generate 874.6 GWh of electricity.
Baghdara (Baghdara Auxiliary Powerhouse) consists of 1 unit of francis turbine with 12.6MW nameplate capacity.
Baghdara (Baghdara Main Powerhouse) consists of 4 units of francis turbines with 56.6MW nameplate capacity.
Development status
The project construction is expected to commence from 2026. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2029.
