PROJECT DESCRIPTION (DE)
Initial situation
Vietnamese agriculture is being challenged by climate change, rapidly declining resources such as fertile soils, and rising demand for high-quality, environmentally and climate-friendly agricultural products. At the same time, Vietnam's energy demand is rising. The country has therefore set itself the goal of generating around 39 percent of its electricity from renewable energies by 2030.
However, there is increasing competition for land to produce energy and food. Innovative solutions for change are also needed.
Agri-photovoltaics (APV) is one example: it combines agricultural production and solar systems on agricultural land. However, APV has not yet become part of agricultural practice in Vietnam.
Objective
The planning and technical foundations have been created to develop APV on agricultural land in Vietnam in a gender-equitable and income-enhancing manner.
Approach
The project focuses on four areas:
1. Promote strategies for APV: It develops an APV strategy, a uniform definition of APV, evaluates existing models, and creates technical guidelines.
2. Improved access to APV: The project offers advisory services, analyzing the feasibility of APV models using a digital database. It also develops information materials to help farmers and entrepreneurs make informed investment decisions.
3. Developing technical skills: The project improves the knowledge of government officials, farmers, and the private sector by training them, testing experimental models with research institutions, and incorporating prac
