Download Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Pham Duc Long spoke at the Conference - Photo: VGP/TG On June 19, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam Internet Center (VNNIC - Ministry of Science and Technology) organized the VNNIC Internet Conference 2026 with the theme Deploying IPv6-Only - The driving force for national digital infrastructure development. The event was attended by more than 400 leaders, experts, representatives of management agencies and organizations. International Internet organizations, domestic and international technology associations and enterprises. Speaking at the Conference, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Pham Duc Long emphasized that after more than 30 years of development, the Internet is no longer just a connection tool but has become the foundation of socio-economic activities, innovation, e-commerce, digital finance, online public services and smart manufacturing. The strong development of artificial intelligence, cloud computing, Internet of Things, Big data, 5G, 6G networks and digital services are placing new demands on Internet infrastructure. The Internet not only needs to expand in scale but also innovate in architecture and operating methods. According to the Deputy Minister, IPv6-Only is the next development step of the Internet, contributing to the formation of a larger scalable infrastructure, operating effectively, safely and ready to meet new requirements. IPv6-Only conversion is not only a technical upgrade but also preparing the infrastructure for a new stage of national development in the digital era. Internet infrastructure, telecommunications networks, digital services and major online platforms in Vietnam are ready for IPv6. On October 27, 2025, the Minister of Science and Technology issued Decision No. 3369/QD-BKHCN approving the Program to promote IPv6-Only deployment and conversion for the period 2026-2030. The program aims to synchronously transition the national Internet infrastructure to IPv6-Only, promoting innovation and integration with the global Internet ecosystem. Within the framework of the event, there will also be exhibition activities, product introduction, technology solutions and Internet infrastructure. VNNIC also announced a set of criteria to measure the level of IPv6-Only conversion for agencies, units, and businesses, as a basis for evaluating the progress of deploying and implementing the national IPv6 goal for the period 2026-2030.
