π Tender Overview
Under the slogan The path of energy the final stage of the Ceibal Robotics Programming and Video Games Olympics which took place on November 3 and 4 attracted the participation of 2300 students and 308 teachers from all over the country. The instance promotes the development of computational thinking skills through the project-based learning methodology highlighted the president of Ceibal Leandro Folgar. In dialogue with Presidential Communication Folgar explained that more than 600 teams from educational centers throughout the country worked during the year to identify a problem related to the use generation transformation use or storage of some form of energy and They presented a solution that was evaluated and in some cases selected by a technical-pedagogical jury.He pointed out that this edition was carried out in person at the Technological Laboratory of Uruguay LATU after two years of pandemic but that there were also communities from the interior of the country that participated virtually for which reason a combined participation format was installed. . With this activity Ceibal proposes to promote learning and the development of computational thinking skills through the project-based methodology and the use of technology he said. The head of Ceibal maintained that as time goes by there is a growing interest in the use of various technologies both among students and teachers according to the profile of each educational center. This means that more students join the different projects and that a greater variety of technologies is incorporated in each center he affirmed.Regarding the selected projects he maintained that they were very creative solutions to the challenges posed and that this allows them to acquire computational thinking skills that they can later use in other technological projects. The categories were Robotics Programmable Plates Programming Minecraft Education for the first time drones First Lego League Challenge First Lego League Explore and Community Award.Platform RoboguardWithin the framework of Ceibals strategy on training in computational thinking in Primary School which reached 70 of the fifth and sixth-year groups in the country by 2022 a new platform called Robogarden was deployed available for curricular teachers remote teachers of computational thinking and students of 4th 5th and 6th grade. The platform designed to work on computational thinking and programming allows the development of skills related to problem solving algorithmic thinking logical reasoning abstraction pattern detection and other skills related to programming Folgar said.
