π Tender Overview
This management tool seeks to integrate environmental and sustainability variables into strategic planning. The Urban Mobility Plan for Lima and Callao (PMU), managed by the Urban Transport Authority for Lima and Callao (ATU), received approval from the Ministry of the Environment (MINAM), for its Strategic Environmental Assessment (EAE), an instrument that will ensure that environmental and social aspects are being considered in the formulation of the plan.
The environmental report EAE of the PMU, which was approved by the General Directorate of Policies and Environmental Management Instruments of the MINAM, represents the recognition of the integration of environmental and sustainability policies from the first decision-making stages.
This environmental assessment had the purpose of identifying, preventing, controlling and correcting in advance the negative socio-environmental impacts that the application of the actions derived from the PMU could have on the metropolis. With the approval of the report, the need to carry out a follow-up report with the results obtained is also established.
CITIZEN PARTICIPATION IN THE PMU
The PMU is implemented with the support of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), through the consortium formed by the companies FOA, Arcadis-IBI Group and AIC.
As part of its highly participatory approach, to date, 49 activities have been carried out such as forums, workshops and working groups that, together, had more than 1,950 participants.
Within these activities, public hearings were held and a form was implemented to collect the opinions and contributions of citizens to the executive summary of the plan, which was available from October 15 to November 25, 2024, through the portal www.atumovilidad.pe, receiving a total of 33 comments that have been evaluated by the technical team.
In order to ensure an adequate formulation of the PMU in each of its stages, the process was accompanied by a Management Committee made up of representatives of 30 public and private institutions and social organizations.
