SSOE Group a global project delivery firm for architecture engineering and construction management had the pleasure of hosting engineering students from The University of Toledo UT for Alternative Spring Break a program that allows students to visit local businesses for tours presentations and meaningful discussions about their future careers.Twenty-one students from the University ranging from freshmen to graduate students went through an application process and selection committee to participate in the weeks activities. Visiting students took a tour of SSOEs downtown global headquarters participated in a QA session with SSOE co-op UT alumni and heard from members of SSOEs Executive Management Team including President and CEO Bob Howell Chief Operating Officer Vince DiPofi and Senior Vice President Mike Murphy who each shared their professional journey and offered advice to the students. SSOEs marketing department also equipped students with professional headshots for their resumes and LinkedIn profiles. The students attended SSOEs event on Tuesday March 5th from 1230-330pm while attending events at Owens-Illinois and North Star BlueScope Steel at other times throughout that week.Engineering is one of the fastest-growing best paid careers for recent college graduates and this growth is projected to continue into the future. SSOE is committed to preparing students for successful careers by helping to generate interest and improve skills in the science technology engineering and math STEM fields. They participate yearly in National Engineers Week by hosting high school students for the Engineer for A Day program. For the last 4 years the firm has also sponsored Imagination Stations Girl Power event a STEM career day for girls that gives young women in the community an opportunity to meet and learn from women in STEM fields. This event offers special activities prepared by STEM professionals and the opportunity to explore the science center. Additionally in 2017 the firm started a partnership with Toledo Public Schools for a pilot apprenticeship program to engage students at the high school pre-college level and provide them exposure to careers in engineering and architecture.
