During his working visit to Finland, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal held a meeting with the Mayor of Helsinki Yugana Vartiainen.
The Head of Government thanked for the active cooperation with the city of Dnipro and noted the active role of Helsinki in the implementation of the European Parliament and Eurocities campaign "Generators of Hope".
"During the Russian shelling of the power system, Helsinki was one of the first cities to participate in the collection of energy equipment for Ukraine, and Finland, in general, is one of the first places in terms of the amount of equipment provided among donors in Europe," noted Denys Shmyhal.
The Prime Minister emphasized that Ukraine is interested in the experience of the city of Helsinki in the development of green technologies, in particular, regarding the heating system and the installation of solar panels.
"The help and involvement of the city of Helsinki in the coalition of civil protection for the construction of modern technological shelters, which was launched together with the Prime Minister of Finland, will be valuable," the head of the Government said.
In particular, Denys Shmyhal got acquainted with the Merihaka civil protection shelter in Helsinki. In total, there are approximately 5,500 shelters in the Finnish capital, accommodating 900,000 people.
"We want to use this experience to build shelters in Ukraine. Together with Finland, we will involve partners in the implementation of similar projects," said the Prime Minister.
As Denis Shmyhal noted, Ukraine is developing direct cooperation between Ukrainian and Finnish medical institutions. In particular, on October 18, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and Finland signed a relevant agreement, and the Ukrainian delegation got acquainted with the work of the hospital in Helsinki.
Separately, the Prime Minister thanked the mayor of Helsinki for the treatment of Ukrainian soldiers. But he expressed hope for the expansion of cooperation in the treatment of children from Ukraine.
