πŸ“‹ Tender Overview

The Geodetic Administration, in cooperation with the company Planet, successfully held a two-day workshop on the use of satellite data, advanced technologies for observing the Earth and the possibilities of their use in spatial planning, monitoring changes in the environment and developing data-supported solutions. The Geodetic Administration of the Republic of Slovenia, in cooperation with the company Planet, successfully completed a two-day professional workshop aimed at in-depth knowledge of the latest technologies for observing the Earth, the use of satellite data and the search for new opportunities for cooperation in the development of advanced spatial solutions.
The workshop was attended by experts from various Slovenian ministries, research institutes, faculties, state institutes and companies operating in the fields of spatial planning, forestry, agriculture, infrastructure, environmental protection and response to natural disasters. The meeting offered an opportunity to exchange knowledge, present examples of the use of satellite data, and discuss how modern technologies can support better decision-making and more efficient space management.
The first day of the workshop was devoted to technical research and practical demonstrations. The participants got acquainted with the products of the company Planet and the work processes for SkySat satellites, and then continued with demonstrations of change detection, the use of Planet AI artificial intelligence and the possibilities of connecting satellite data with existing Slovenian and external information systems.
In the afternoon, interactive workshops were held, where the participants looked for concrete solutions and possibilities of using satellite data in various fields. Special emphasis was placed on agriculture, forestry and response to natural disasters, including the possibility of assessing damage to buildings and monitoring changes in space.
The second day of the workshop was marked by presentations by students from the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geodesy of the University of Ljubljana. They presented innovative approaches to the use of satellite data, including for automatic detection of gas pipeline infrastructure and monitoring of changes in lakes in coal mining areas. Their presentations showed that knowledge in the field of remote sensing, artificial intelligence and spatial data is increasingly successfully connected with research and study work.
The final part of the workshop was devoted to advanced data processing. Experts from Planet demonstrated the use of their programming interfaces, Python and the eo-learn library for machine learning purposes, and demonstrated how satellite data can be integrated into advanced analytical processes.
The workshop confirmed the great potential of satellite data in monitoring changes in space, supporting spatial planning, managing natural resources, responding to emergency events and developing new digital services. At the same time, the meeting strengthened the connection between the public administration, the research community, educational institutions and the economy.
The Geodetic Administration would like to thank the experts of the Planet company for sharing their knowledge and all the participants for their active cooperation, exchange of experiences and interesting questions. New knowledge and ideas will be an important basis for further work and the development of customized solutions in practice.
