The Ministry of Transportation and Public Works (MTOP) established eight so far.
The plan continues to locate 20 control stations, each made up of two gantries equipped with sensors and cameras capable of identifying license plates, measuring the gross and axle weight of vehicles, verifying the regulatory height and automatically contrasting the information obtained with the database of the National Directorate of Transportation.
The technology allows monitoring and verifying the National Circulation Permit and the Technical Aptitude Certificate of cargo and passenger vehicles, the MTOP website reported.
The aforementioned gantries, a high-tech drone recently incorporated, 10 comprehensive inspection mobiles added in 2025 and 33 scales distributed throughout the country make up the Comprehensive Modernization Plan.
These actions strengthen the MTOP's inspection capabilities through the use of cutting-edge technology, as well as the promotion of a policy based on prevention, deterrence and continuous improvement of road safety and road transportation.
