The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) transferred 22,500 electronic tablets to the Ministry of Education (MINEDU), technological equipment that was used during the execution of the 2025 National Censuses.
These tablets are part of a batch of 40 thousand units acquired through the signing of a Resource Management Agreement (CAR) between the INEI and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), with a total investment of 3,588,000.00 US dollars. The equipment was originally intended for use by field operation personnel who participated in the census execution in the second half of 2025.
The head of the INEI, Dr. Gaspar Moran Flores, highlighted the importance of continuing the use of this equipment for the benefit of the population, contributing to access to technological tools in educational institutions located in the most remote and difficult-to-access areas of the country.
At the INEI we are convinced that public resources must generate the greatest possible benefit for citizens. Therefore, we are satisfied that the tablets that were used to carry out the most important census in our history now continue to contribute to the educational development of thousands of girls, boys and adolescents in the rural areas of the country, said the institutional head of the INEI, Dr. Gaspar Moran Flores.
The delivery of these tablets reflects the coordinated work between the INEI and the MINEDU to strengthen digital inclusion and expand learning opportunities for students in rural and vulnerable areas of the country. In this way, the efficient use of public resources is promoted, granting a new social utility to equipment that was part of the most important statistical operation in Peru.
This transfer supports teaching-learning processes through the use of digital tools, in line with the competencies provided for in the National Basic Education Curriculum, and facilitates access to MINEDU educational platforms, especially PeruEduca. Likewise, it contributes to closing the technological gap in educational institutions with fewer resources, where access to equipment is still limited.
With this action, the INEI reaffirmed its commitment to the efficient use of State resources and to the generation of social value from the information and technological infrastructure deployed during the 2025 National Censuses.
