Back 02/04/2026 By train to the airport in Modlin - there is a tender for the construction of a railway connection with Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. announced a tender for the construction of a railway connection to the Warsaw-Modlin Masovian Airport. This is a key moment for one of the most important transport investments in the region. The goal is to provide comfortable access by train directly to the airport. The task is being carried out together with the local government of the Masovian Voivodeship. The investment will connect the airport with the Modlin station. The approximately 5.5 km long route will be double track. The existing Modlin station will gain an additional track and a 200-meter platform. It is also planned to build a railway station directly next to the airport terminal. Additionally, a freight station will be built. Additionally, the investment plans to build three road viaducts - along national road No. 62, district road No. 2413W and an internal road serving the airport. This will facilitate efficient and collision-free traffic in the port area. - A direct rail connection to the Modlin airport is comfortable for passengers and saves their time. The investment will be a great help for thousands of travelers every day. As the Ministry of Infrastructure, we focus on the development of all modes of transport and their integration. In practice, such cooperation means real benefit for passengers - said the Minister of Infrastructure, Dariusz Klimczak. - The joint effort of PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. and the Marshals Office of the Masovian Voivodeship will improve communication in the region. A direct rail connection with the Modlin airport is a step towards modern and integrated transport that residents and travelers count on - emphasizes Maciej Kaczorek, member of the management board - director of strategy and development at PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. The new connection will speed up access to the airport and integrate air and rail transport. Currently, to get to the terminal, passengers from the train at Modlin station must change to a bus. Thanks to the investment, passengers will have convenient access to the terminal area, as well as a direct connection to the center of Warsaw. - This is an important and long-awaited investment. The new line is to be built by the end of 2029. Importantly, it will connect two Warsaw airports. The investment itself will support the development of the Warsaw-Modlin port, which plans to increase capacity and launch new routes, emphasizes the Marshal of the Masovian Voivodeship, Adam Struzik. Construction works will start in 2027 and end in 2029. The investment is being implemented by Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. as part of the task entitled Construction of a section of the railway line from the Modlin station to the Mazowiecki Port Lotniczy (MPL) Warsaw/Modlin and construction of the Mazowiecki Port Lotniczy (MPL) Warsaw/Modlin railway station. Moreover, the Masovian Voivodeship Local Government secured nearly PLN 167 million from its own funds for the implementation of the task. The voivodeship also financed the development of project documentation.
