π Tender Overview
Summary
The trio convincingly won the Longest Train Race in the Netherlands on Sunday. The winners traveled almost five hundred kilometers by train in six hours, visited nine provinces and also scored the most points with creative assignments along the way.
During the Longest Train Race, ten teams traveled criss-cross through the Netherlands with one goal: to cover as many kilometers as possible by train in one day. Along the way, teams could earn extra points by visiting different provinces and completing assignments. The race started on Sunday morning at Utrecht Central Station and took the participants to stations throughout the country. With the campaign, NS draws attention to the Netherlands Dal Vrij season ticket. With this temporary summer subscription, travelers can travel unlimitedly for up to two months outside rush hour and on weekends for 49 euros. The subscription was taken out more than 120,000 times in the first week. NS introduced the subscription with government support, partly in response to increased fuel costs. The teams winning route took them past Breda, where they ate sausage rolls, and past Groningen where they had their picture taken with the Groninger Museum. They visited nine provinces in total. The other teams also made the most of the day: for example, Bossche bollen were eaten in s-Hertogenbosch, the number of times Kedeng Kedeng in the song by Guus Meeuwis was counted, various station pianos were played and the NS logo was depicted in all kinds of creative ways. With the Longest Train Race, NS shows how many kilometers you can travel by train in a short time - and how the Dal Vrij subscription offers maximum freedom to discover the Netherlands.
