The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC), through the Vice Ministry of Transportation, launched the so -called N deg 4/2025 to award in concession the public transport service on three tours: the section that connects ita with Asuncion, the service in the neighborhood of San Lorenz coverage and improve the mobility of citizens. With this bidding process we are responding to the applications of the residents of these areas, who were claiming for many years the transport service in their communities, said the director of the Metropolitan Transportation, Ing. Rolando Gonzalez. He also mentioned that the initiative responds to the need to meet areas with low coverage or without service, as in the case of Ita and Asuncion, where line 70, previously identified as 420, was tendered in 2023 but the process was deserted; in Barrio Lerida, after the cancellation of the permission to line 55; And in the Thompson - Kennedy section, where it seeks to strengthen the frequency in the face of the increase in demand. Technical requirements The bidding process includes technical requirements for the fleet, which include buses with a maximum age of 15 years, equipped with surveillance cameras, data transmission systems and automatic collection devices. 7 units will be required for line 70, 5 for Lleida and 10 for Thompson - Kennedy, with the possibility of including combustion or electric vehicles, the latter with sufficient autonomy to cover the routes. The schedule provides for the presentation of proposals until August 29, after which the stages of technical opening, evaluation, economic opening and award will be developed, with the objective that citizens of the beneficiary areas can count as soon as possible with a more efficient public transport service.
