πŸ“‹ Tender Overview

It was organized by the Pan-African Institute for Education for the Development of the African Union (AU-IPED).
The closed symposium yesterday, Wednesday, April 2, brought together political leaders, researchers and educational leaders from all about Africa to address educational challenges, and highlighted the crucial role of innovation, the formulation of policies based on evidence and collaboration to transform educational results.
Participants emphasized the need to strengthen research infrastructure and develop the capacity of African researchers. The African Educational Research Database (AERD) stood out as a valuable tool to make visible and facilitate access to research to political leaders.
In addition, the Symposium urged greater collaboration between researchers, political and professionals responsible to ensure that the results of the investigations are translated into viable policies. Special emphasis was made that research should not be relegated to the background, but must base the decisions that make up the future of education in Africa.
It was recalled that, despite the advances in the extension of access to education, sub -Saharan Africa still presents the highest rates of boys without access to education, especially girls, boys with disabilities and marginalized communities. The symposium emphasized the urgent need to address these disparities through specific interventions.
Regarding the teachers development, it was explained that they are the backbone of educational systems; However, challenges such as insufficient training and low motivation persist.
Despite its proven benefits, access to quality education in early childhood remains limited in many African countries, particularly in rural areas.
The symposium urged a greater investment in early childhood education, including the development of teacher training programs with a gender perspective and the expansion of the public preschool educational offer. It is urgent to raise public awareness about the importance of early childhood development.
Effective leadership and governance needed to build resilient educational systems. The Symposium highlighted the crucial role of school leaders in the creation of positive learning environments and the promotion of student results. The participants also emphasized the importance of decentralizing educational management to empower local authorities and promote accountability.
The symposium urged the development of information systems for educational management (GIS) to improve the collection, analysis and interpretation of data. From the debates it followed that the quality of the data is the basis of a good policy and that African countries need to invest in systems that provide precise and real -time information to guide decision making.
The symposium concluded with an energetic call to action, urging governments, researchers and key actors to collaborate to translate the findings of policy and practices research. The need to increase investment in education was emphasized, in particular in teacher training, early childhood education and educational technology.
Looking ahead, the challenge will be to ensure that the ideas and recommendations of the symposium are implemented in the 44 African countries. This will require concerted efforts of all interested parties, as well as innovative approaches to address the unique challenges facing African educational systems.
