📋 Tender Overview
In 2022, Switzerland had almost 91,000 protected monuments, 21% more than in 2016. The number of archaeological sites increased by 27% to 53,000. These increases reflect the pressure from the construction sector and the growing efforts of monument preservation, but can also be explained by methodological changes in recording.
The protected objects accounted for 5% of the Swiss building stock, the archaeological protection zones 1.3% of the total Swiss area.
These results come from the second Swiss monument statistics of the Federal Statistical Office (FSO), which for the first time also includes data on financing.
