π Tender Overview
The injury occurred when a two-year-old child accidentally knocked over a ladle of boiling water. The hot liquid burned his chest, stomach, right shoulder and forearm. The affected area was about 20% of the body surface, which is a critical and life-threatening condition for a young child.
Pre-hospital care has become critically important. While the emergency medical team responded to the call, Galina Logunova, a paramedic for receiving and transmitting calls at the Surgut ambulance station, remained in telephone contact with the childs mother. The dispatcher clearly instructed the woman how to properly cool the burned areas with cool running water, and categorically forbade applying ointments, oils or folk remedies to the skin, which could aggravate the injury and interfere with further examination by doctors.
Doctors from the Surgut regional clinic who arrived at the scene assessed the boys condition as serious. The team immediately provided anesthesia and sedation, provided venous access, applied aseptic dressings and urgently transported the patient to the Burn Center of the Surgut City Clinical Hospital.
In the hospital, the child was placed in the intensive care ward.Doctors stabilized vital signs and successfully stopped the burn shock.
Now the little patient continues treatment in the specialized ward.He will have to undergo regular dressing changes until his wounds heal completely.
Doctors remind: hot liquids and food are one of the most common causes of severe household burns in children. To prevent a tragedy, never leave containers of boiling water, pots or hot food within a childs reach.Take strict precautions when preparing food and be extremely careful.
It should be noted that the provision of timely emergency, resuscitation and specialized medical care, as well as the prevention of childhood injuries are the most important components of the national project Long and Active Life.
