The immediate destruction of machinery and assets found in illegal processing plants was ordered.In an action against environmental crimes, the Specialized Environmental Prosecutors Office (FEMA) of Sullana, directed the destruction of processing plants and machinery used for the illicit extraction of gold in the district of Suyo.
In this interdiction designed to stop the advance of illegal mining in the Piura region, the FEMA of Sullana, led by provincial prosecutor Nestor Sosa Carrillo, carried out two interdiction proceedings in the los Rosos sectors and surrounding areas of the district of Suyo, province of Ayabaca.
The interdiction included the participation of the deputy provincial prosecutor, Marcos Andre Espinoza Minan, who supervised compliance with the law in the field during the interventions.
The actions were carried out with the participation of the Environmental Directorate of the National Police (Dirmeamb-PNP), the Division against Illegal Mining (Divcomin), the Grecco group and Dinoes; in addition to specialists from the Regional Directorate of Energy and Mines (Drem) Piura.
During the tour of the georeferenced points, the authorities found rustic infrastructures intended for the processing of gold material. Among the findings, a total of eight mills in operation stand out. Six diesel engines and three motor pumps, in addition to sedimentation ponds and a cyanidation pond, highly polluting elements for the local ecosystem.
Likewise, they found 50 polyethylene bags with mineralized material. When it was found that the activities did not have the corresponding administrative authorizations from Drem Piura, FEMA, protected by Legislative Decree No. 1100, which regulates interdiction actions against illegal mining, ordered the immediate destruction of the machinery and assets found.
Meanwhile, specialized personnel from the Divcomin proceeded to carry out the detonations under strict security measures.
