The structural intervention will begin on February 13 and will be executed with a special plan that will allow vehicle circulation to be maintained in this key axis in the north of the country.The Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MTC), through Provias Nacional, will begin repair work on the Sullana bridge, located at kilometer 935 of the Panamericana Norte, on February 13, guaranteeing at all times the continuity of vehicular flow and the safety of users.
The intervention, which will be carried out on the Sullana-Mancora section, aims to recover the structural capacity of the bridge through a highly engineered solution, without generating a significant impact on the mobility of the area. To this end, a traffic management plan has been designed that will allow the road to be kept operational throughout the execution of the work.
As planned, heavy transport will circulate on the same Sullana bridge using a single lane in an alternating and controlled manner, through passes in turns. In parallel, light vehicles will be diverted through the old Isaias Garrido bridge, which will maintain the flow of traffic and reduce waiting times.
The work includes the replacement of the upper metal braces and the demolition of the current slab for the installation of new prefabricated concrete slabs. This construction technology will shorten intervention times and accelerate the release of traffic, minimizing inconvenience for users.
According to the established schedule, the work will extend until the month of August. During this period, Provias Nacional urges drivers to respect temporary signage, as well as the instructions of field personnel in charge of vehicle control, in order to prevent incidents and protect both users and workers.
With this intervention, the MTC reaffirms its commitment to the conservation of the non-concessioned National Road Network, ensuring adequate conditions of passability and road safety for the population of Piura and for thousands of transporters who circulate daily through this key corridor for the economic development of the north of the country.
