European Services in Malta and the Family Business Office have signed a Collaboration Agreement with the aim of strengthening the support given to family businesses in Malta, in particular in relation to access to European funds and to information on European Union policies. The signing of the agreement was presided over by the Minister for European Funds and the Implementation of the Electoral Programme, Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi. Through this agreement, the two entities will increase cooperation between them so that family businesses have clearer and more accessible guidance on the opportunities offered by the EU. This includes both funding schemes and information related to European policies that can have a direct impact on Maltese businesses. Minister Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi said This agreement represents an important opportunity to continue to strengthen support for family businesses in Malta, which continue to be a main pillar in our economy. Through this agreement, we are ensuring that these businesses have clear and effective access to the opportunities offered by the European Union, in particular for European funds, as well as for information on policies and regulations that directly affect them. Rodrick Zerafa, Chief Executive of European Services in Malta, said that this cooperation will allow family businesses to have more practical and direct guidance on the opportunities for European funds and EU policies that affect them. In addition, this partnership will help the officials of European Services in Malta to better understand the specific needs of family businesses, so that they can continue to offer a more effective and relevant service. The Regulator of the Family Business Office, Dr. Joseph Gerada, explained how this agreement strengthens family businesses by helping them take better advantage of the opportunities offered by the EU, in particular the European funds. He stated that this agreement is an important step to strengthen the competitiveness and sustainability of family businesses in Malta. Through this agreement, European Services in Malta will provide training to the employees of the Family Business Office on European funding opportunities for businesses. This training will strengthen the capacity of the Family Business Office to better assist family businesses that are looking to expand, invest or further develop their operation. Another important aspect of this agreement is the collaboration on EU policies. The aim is to strengthen the participation of family businesses in the design of European policy, especially that which directly affects Maltese businesses.
