πŸ“‹ Tender Overview

We would like to share with the public an important decision made by the Georgian government regarding the construction of the deep-water port of Anaklia. As you know, the construction of Anaklia port is of great importance for the strengthening of the transit function of Georgia and, accordingly, for the sustainable economic development of Georgia. Β
The role of the Middle Corridor for connecting the West and the East is increasing. The Middle Corridor has become the shortest and most important trade-economic route between Europe and Asia, in which Georgia plays a key role. Today, our port infrastructure is operating at maximum capacity. The increase is recorded in relation to all types of cargo. In January-April 2026, cargo turnover increased by 21% compared to the corresponding period of last year, and a total of 46% growth was recorded in the last 4 years. Over the past year, the Government of Georgia has formulated a clear vision and strategy for the further development of the countrys transport and logistics sector, which is in full agreement with the prospects of increasing the capacity of the transport infrastructure of the countries participating in the Middle Corridor. Β  The Government of Georgia will invest 7 billion dollars in the strategic infrastructure of the mentioned sector until 2032, which includes the construction of the deep-water port of Anaklia, the qualitative renewal of the Georgian railway and the completion of the construction of high-speed highways. The policy carried out by the Georgian government, implemented reforms and coordinated work with partner countries have caused an unprecedented international interest in the Anaklia deep-water port from neighboring and Central Asian countries, China and the Gulf states, as well as Western companies. Based on the above, it is obvious that the Anaklia project has acquired the burden of not only regional, but also international strategic infrastructural project. Β  Taking into account the growing interest of many countries and international companies in the project, it is fundamentally important for Georgia to base the development of Anaklia on a model that ensures the leading role of the state in the development of strategic infrastructure and, at the same time, will create a competitive environment where the interests of many interested partner countries and companies will be taken into account. Β  Taking this task into account, the Government of Georgia made a decision to build the Anaklia deep-water port, the worlds most widely tested so-called. With the Landlord model, within which the state will remain the owner of the main marine and port infrastructure and will ensure its development and management. The Landlord model will give the state the opportunity to develop Anaklia port not alone, as was planned until now, but simultaneously in partnership with several states and companies, which will create the best conditions for attracting cargo to the port and, accordingly, for its most effective operation. Along with the creation of the port infrastructure, the state will ensure the arrangement of the road and railway leading to Anaklia, and the necessary investments for the arrangement of container and bulk cargo terminals will be made by international investors and private operators. The Government of Georgia particularly welcomes the investments made in the port of Anaklia from the participating countries of the Middle Corridor - China, Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan. The adopted decision is based on the main goal: with the participation of the partner countries and taking into account their interests, the port of Anaklia will become a center of gathering of international interests, capital and cargo flows. Β  The most important decision made by the Government of Georgia will further strengthen the national interests of Georgia, create new economic opportunities and make our country a key participant in the Middle Corridor project.
