📋 Tender Overview
Lustenau VLK - The Wiesenrain Rhine bridge is over 100 years old and shows corrosion damage. From Monday, February 23, 2026, work to relieve the load on the bridge will take place. These are bridging measures until the complete repair is complete.
The Wiesenrain Bridge is a central connection between Widnau and Lustenau. Due to its age and structural condition, it has only been used to a limited extent since 2024 for safety reasons. In order to maintain this important connection, the state of Vorarlberg and the municipality of Widnau will start preparatory work for bridging measures on Monday, February 23, 2026. The partial dismantling of the roadway structures significantly relieves the load on the bridge and thus ensures its load-bearing safety for the coming years. Thanks to these measures, the bridge can continue to be used until it is completely repaired. Traffic flows as usual during the preparation work. From Monday, March 23, 2026 to Thursday, April 30, 2026, the bridge will be closed to motorized traffic and pedestrian traffic. Once the work has been completed, the bridge will once again have two lanes and can be used without restrictions. In parallel to the relief work, the comprehensive overall repair of the listed bridge is being prepared. The municipality of Widnau and the state of Vorarlberg are committed to keeping the restrictions as low as possible and ask residents and road users for their understanding.
