π Tender Overview
What do spatial planning, nature protection, water management and more effective intervention of firefighters have in common? Quality and linked spatial data. In cooperation with the European Commission, we prepared a video that shows, on concrete examples, what the Green Slovenian Location Framework (SLO4D) project has brought to users. The SLO4D project connected data and processes in the areas of space, environment, water, nature and real estate. Its goal was to make data more accessible, their more efficient integration, and the development of digital solutions that help users reach information and decisions faster and in one place.
In the video, Tomaz Petek, director general of the Geodetic Administration of the Republic of Slovenia, and Matjaz Grilc, head of the project unit for managing strategic and European projects at the Geodetic Administration, talk about the results of the project.
When the user does not need to search from portal to portal
In the video, Tomaz Petek emphasizes one of the key changes brought about by connecting data. The user no longer needs to know individual sources and search for information in different places. The goal is that he can access the data he needs as simply and transparently as possible.
SLO4D is specifically aimed at the horizontal digital linking of data on space, environment, real estate, water and nature. Such a connection enables better planning, higher quality decisions and more efficient space management.
Spatial data can also help save lives
In the video, he shows a concrete example of their use that spatial data is not only intended for experts and map preparation.
Matjaz Grilc presents the use of three-dimensional data on buildings in the work of the Ljubljana Fire Brigade. The data can help firefighters better understand where in the building each apartment is, how the rooms are arranged and what the buildings spatial design is like.
Such information can be an important support when planning an intervention, as it allows a better insight into the facility even before or during the intervention.
This is also one of the clearest answers to the question of why we need quality and connected spatial data.
The data gets its real value when we can use it.
Digital transformation that shows itself in practice
The Green Slovenian Location Framework project is one of the key projects for the digital transformation of space and environment in Slovenia. With it, we established the conditions for connecting data, services and processes and for their more efficient access and reuse. The project is also financed by means of the Recovery and Resilience Plan.
The funds of the European Recovery and Resilience Mechanism made it possible to carry out development activities, with which we were able to carry out certain digitization and integration processes faster and establish the foundations for the further development of modern spatial services.
Video thus does not only represent technology. Above all, it shows what connected data means in practice for people, public services, experts and decision-makers.
Watch the video and learn how connecting spatial data can improve services and help solve specific challenges.
