The comprehensive maintenance contract for the equipment extends over the next four years. Over half of the network's 9,000 cameras are located in its 302 stations and the central command post is in Alto del Arenal. The underground has a comprehensive recording circuit that enables train drivers to see inside the trains and the platform of the stop they are going to.
The Community of Madrid will invest €5.5 million over the next four years to improve the comprehensive maintenance of the equipment and applications that make up the video surveillance system of the Metro network.
The company has more than 9,000 cameras, 5,000 of which are located in its 302 stations, while trains are equipped with an internal video circuit that enables train drivers to view the cameras inside the trains and on the platform of the next stop they are travelling to.
All the devices are integrated into a single central facility, the control station located at Alto del Arenal station (Line 1), where, in addition to viewing the image in real time, it is also possible to access the recorded material. In addition, the several remote controls for facilities, control and local security posts contribute to the proper maintenance of the underground's facilities.
Metro de Madrid makes intensive use of this technology at different departments for the correct operation of this video surveillance system, which implies a high level of demand and availability.
