πŸ“‹ Tender Overview

The Minister of Education and Vocational Training Isabel Celaa has defended the need for students to develop critical thinking to be able to use technological resources with confidence. It is essential to equip our boys and girls their families their teachers and educational leaders with the tools that make possible the management of these technological resources in an intelligent critical and peaceful way stressed the Minister and spokesperson for the Government during the delivery of Conectados prizes organized by the Fad Foundation for Help against Drug Addiction Google and BBVA and which took place in the Google Campus Madrid. The minister recalled the 2015 PISA data which revealed how 95 of 15-year-olds in the OECD countries had Internet access in their homes which was an increase of 75 compared to 2006. In This line the study ICT and its influence on the socialization of adolescents prepared by Fad Google and BBVA shows that about 90 of adolescents between 14 and 16 have between two and five digital devices personal and 72.4 admit that they look at the mobile constantly. In addition almost all respondents have a profile in social networks 92.Only 22.5 of respondents admit having received training in critical thinking to properly assess the information they access on the Internet has detailed Cela who has also highlighted the socio-economic disparities that exist in Internet access.Effective public policies should encourage adolescents to be active users of technology instead of passive users but they must also help to ensure that access to ICTs does not become the new dividing line that leaves thousands of children out that could benefit more from digital technology the minister stressed. The new education law that is prepared by the Government pursues precisely the commitment to the objectives set by the European Union and UNESCO to promote the knowledge society and ensure everyones access to information and communication technologies. The National Institute of Educational Technologies and Teacher Training INTEF under the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training tries to mitigate the digital divide with different initiatives such as the Escuelas Conectadas program. In collaboration with the autonomous communities and other ministries the program aims to bring connectivity to all schools in Spain. In 2018 more than 11500 educational centers participated in this initiative in which more than four million students are enrolled. We have a colossal challenge that we must address with determination and trust education in ethical and civic values must help us make better use of ICT and the new digital reality must serve us to develop values in students the minister has concluded.
