The president of Adif Isabel Pardo de Vera and the president of the Royal Academy of Engineering RAI Antonio Colino closed today together with the general director of Strategic Planning and Projects of Adif Mara Luisa Domnguez the general director of People Management Michaux Miranda and the director of the RAI Women and Engineering project Sara Gmez the first edition of the Lidera mentoring program launched jointly by both institutions and aimed at young female engineers .Some of the participants in the program also took part in the event who valued their experience very positively. In fact the 22 pairs of mentors and mentees who have been part of the Lidera Program have scored it with an average score of 8.3 and 8.4 respectively.The program has lasted approximately 6 months and has had a total of more than 60 sessions during which Adif professionals with proven experience and positions of responsibility in the company have acted as mentors and mentors for young female engineers who have just finished to join the company sharing their experience and points of view.This mentoring program is part of the project launched by RAI Women and Engineering in which Adif participates whose objective is to promote vocations in engineering-related studies in girls and adolescents. In this way the aim is to ensure that there is a greater presence and visibility of women in technical careers where only 25 of students are women and consequently the incorporation of more women to the different professional specialties related to Engineering.The objective of this new methodology is to fully develop peoples potential. Mentoring is based on the transfer of knowledge and learning through experience and is developed through a structured process in which a personal and trusting relationship is established between the mentor who guides stimulates challenges and encourage the other person according to their needs to maximize their talents.Collaboration between Adif and RAIAdif and the Royal Academy of Engineering RAI signed in 2019 a protocol to work together in the development promotion and dissemination of Engineering in its different aspects. The objective is to give a new impetus to actions aimed at increasing the presence of women in STEM that is in those studies related to Science Technology Engineering or Mathematics and more specifically in engineering both in the training and professional fields.Among the objectives of this project is also to make women who are studying technical careers aware that they can aspire to the maximum within them thus breaking the so-called glass ceiling.In this way Adif and the Royal Academy of Engineering aim to reduce the so-called gender gap caused by the shortage of women in the field of science and technology which entails the wasting of a key creative potential for innovation and development of Spanish companies and society in general.
