Adif has worked in the last two months on the analysis and deployment of extraordinary measures that allow minimizing the recovery time in the case of fortuitous incidents in preventive maintenance situations. Also in ensuring that the restoration of the systems in those cases is carried out within the maintenance band without affecting either the services or the users.The incident of September 9 which affected the circulation of Rodalies trains was caused by the unavailability of the Voice Center -one of the elements that constitutes the fixed telephone network- located in the CRC Barcelona Terminus of Barcelona France when a low-risk routine maintenance activity is performed to upgrade your version.Previously this same update was previously tested on a model and had been carried out in two other plants of the Adif network without any incident. To date this action with the same version has been carried out on 2700 similar systems supporting 2.4 million subscribers in 57 countries without incident. In fact on October 23 the update of the Barcelona Terminus Voice Center was deployed -which could not be completed on September 9- normally and in 65 minutes between 0110 and 0215.Minimize availability timesAdif finalizes the implementation of two short-term measures to increase the reliability of some components and at the same time minimize the time of unavailability both in the Voice Central located in the CRC of Barcelona Trmino and in all the centers that have of this system in Spainmechanisms to accelerate the recovery process. The CRCs are equipping themselves with storage systems -in addition to the existing ones and redundant- that contain backup copies of the central configuration in order to use them to restore the system configuration in a short space of time in the event of failure of the two redundant systems in productionmeasure to minimize the impact on the service in the event of a failure of one or several critical components of the communications system. In the case of Barcelona the deployment of a backup CRC in Barcelona Sants is being finalized. Likewise a possible configuration of the system is studied to -if necessary- divert all communications to the command post of this backup.New communications systemIn the medium term the implementation of a new communications system for the CRCs is addressed which will allow automatic redundancy and system availability in the event of a node failure.The increase in the level of redundancy will be obtained from the initial moment of deployment and commissioning of a new system called DICOM. The development of the new functionalities of each component is expected to be completed in the first half of 2023 and the deployment will be carried out between 2023 and 2024.
