π Tender Overview
The Slovenian Transport Safety Agency recently called for the use of protective equipment when riding quad bikes, and drivers should also be reminded of the ban on off-road driving. Driving in natural environments is restricted to protect the forest ecosystem, so it is crucial to respect the rules of conduct in forests and not disturb forest animals.
Slovenia is one of the few countries where we have free access to forests, which offer many opportunities for relaxation, recreation and exploration of nature. But this privilege obliges us to behave responsibly. Forest etiquette Careful with the Forest draws attention to the rules of conduct in the forest, which many forest visitors unfortunately do not know or do not respect.
Forest roads are intended primarily for forest management and are an integral part of the forest. They can also be used by other users, but their use can be limited by a usage regime determined by the Slovenian Forest Service in cooperation with forest owners. Driving with motorized vehicles is limited to transport infrastructure, such as public and uncategorized roads. The organization of rides in the natural environment is also limited. However, driving on off-road or forest trains is absolutely not allowed, as the noise also disturbs and scares forest animals. They have to save energy, especially in winter, due to the lack of food, and unnecessary disturbance can weaken them, while unauthorized driving in the forest narrows their habitat.
Parking in the forest is also permitted only in marked places or in a five-meter strip outside the roadway, unless the landowner objects. The trafficability of forest roads and forest trails must be ensured, and visitors must not obstruct the work in the forest with their visit. Mountain biking and hiking are exceptionally permitted only on marked forest trails or paths. Forest visitors must be aware that every forest has its own owner, so their requirements must be respected.
Forest surveillance is carried out by the Slovenian Forest Service under the auspices of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food and in cooperation with the Forestry Inspectorate. The aim is to raise awareness among forest visitors about proper conduct in forests and to encourage them to respect the rules and behave responsibly. Let's respect the forest and its inhabitants.
