Today there was an outage of information technology (IT) services, including CrowdStrike. It is a company that provides advanced security solutions to protect against cyber threats, including antivirus, endpoint protection, threat detection and response, and other cybersecurity services. The error is said to have occurred due to a system upgrade.
The failure of security services can cause problems with the operation of the Windows operating system, such as slow operation, the inability to launch programs, or the complete inaccessibility of the system. At the same time, the vulnerability of users is increased. Without active protection (in this case, CrowdStrike), systems can be more vulnerable to cyber attacks and malware.
At the Office of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia for Information Security (URSIV), we emphasize that according to the information collected so far, it is not a cyber attack, but a technical error . The CrowdStrike technical team is working intensively to fix the error and restore normal operation of services, and they are also fixing the error in all companies and organizations affected by the said outage.
