📋 Tender Overview
At the beginning of this year, the Alliance for Language Technologies (Alliance for Language Technologies - European Digital Infrastructure Consortium, ALT-EDIC) was established by the European Commission at the initiative of the member states of the European Union. It is run by France. It is a new mechanism for multi-country projects established under the Digital Decade 2030 policy agenda.
The mission of ALT-EDIC is to develop a common European infrastructure in the field of language technologies, especially large languages ??and other fundamental models of artificial intelligence. It strives to improve European competitiveness, increase European data and other relevant resources and preserve European linguistic diversity and cultural richness.
The ALT-EDIC action plan focuses on five thematic areas: data, existing language models, new language models, evaluation, certification and normalization, and ecosystem creation.
Slovenia sees integration into ALT-EDIC as a continuation of the Development of Slovenian in a Digital Environment project and the PoVeJMo project . We expect that within the framework of this project we will come up with our own large language model, and at the same time it will be an environment that will enable researchers and the business to continue development work and establish end-user solutions.
ALT-EDIC has so far already applied or is participating in applications for tenders of the European Commission. This time, a new opportunity to apply is open within the call DIGITAL-2024-BESTUSE-07-MULTICOUNTRY: Accelerating the best use of technologies - Support to the implementation of Multi-Country Projects (MCPs) , where they are looking for interested European incubators that would be willing join the consortium. The proposed organizations will be selected based on the selection of ALT-EDIC with the aim of the best application of the project.
A special working group is being formed at the ALT EDIC level, which will prepare the application for this tender. We are looking for a person who has knowledge and experience in the field of writing/preparation of European projects and incubation. The first session is scheduled for the last week of August.
