They will be located in Lima, Cajamarca, Huanuco, Ancash, Junin, Puno and Pasco, and will benefit more than 130 thousand citizens.The Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MTC), through its executing unit Provias Descentralizado (PVD), signed inter-institutional cooperation agreements with mayors of district municipalities of seven regions for the management of 31 shorter span bridges.
Through these agreements, Provias Descentralizado will manage the financing required for the execution of the shorter span bridges (less than 20 meters in length); while the municipalities will be responsible for the administration and execution of the resources, in accordance with current regulations.
The interventions, which will benefit more than 130 thousand people from Lima, Cajamarca, Huanuco, Ancash, Junin, Puno and Pasco, will contribute to optimizing connectivity in these regions, reducing travel times and improving conditions for the transportation of people and goods, as well as facilitating access to basic services, educational centers, health establishments and markets, favoring the economic and social development of the benefited localities.
These agreements will allow the establishment of coordination and technical assistance mechanisms between Provias Descentralizado and local governments to promote the renewal of bridges, in order to guarantee adequate conditions for vehicular traffic and road safety.
With these actions, MTC, through Provias Descentralizado, reaffirms its commitment to continue closing road infrastructure gaps and promote the development of rural areas of the country through investments that improve the quality of life of the population.
